Interpretation

In order to minimize takeoff and landing separation and improve runway efficiency, landing aircraft should fully vacate the runway via the first or second rapid exit taxiway close to the touchdown zone after landing. Medium aircraft and smaller types shall fully vacate the runway within 50 seconds after flying over the runway threshold, and heavy aircraft and larger types within 70 seconds after flying over the runway threshold. If unable to meet these requirements, the pilot shall inform ATC before FAF, except on wet or contaminated runway.
