Interpretation

LPMA runway 05 approach lighting has been changed to a reduced simple ALS 150 m long with 30 m spacing. The curved shore-aligned LIL extends 1583 m with 17 sequenced flashing lights of variable spacing and three intensity levels, supplemented by four steady lights in the last 180 m, and the system terminates 2034 m from THR 05. Five additional flashing lights are installed on poles 1, 5, 9, 12 and 17 oriented toward Ponta de São Lourenço to indicate the LIL location. All lights are high-intensity LED. See AIP Portugal LPMA AD 2.24.13-1/-3/-5/-7/-9/-11 and LPMA AD 2.14.
