Interpretation

Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport visual approach regular operation is implemented when prevailing visibility is greater than 5 kilometres and the ceiling is 700 metres or above. Visual approach may be applied by the pilot or ATC after mutual approval, and ATC may issue visual approach clearance after the pilot reports the runway or preceding aircraft in sight. After clearance, the pilot controls altitude and heading and remains responsible for safe separation from ground obstacles and other aircraft. ATIS will broadcast information on multi-runway visual approaches. Controllers will terminate the visual approach if the pilot cannot continue due to weather or other reasons, if weather falls below visual approach conditions, or if a situation affecting flight safety is discovered. If the aircraft cannot complete the visual approach, it will be converted to an instrument approach or terminated, with ATC providing necessary assistance and separation.

IMPLEMENTATION WEATHER CONDITIONS:  1.1 THE PREVAILING VISIBILITY AT HONGQIAO AIRPORT IS GREATER THAN  5 KILOMETERS, AND THE CEILING IS 700 METERS (INCLUSIVE) OR ABOVE.  2. INSTRUCTIONS FOR PILOTS:  2.1 THE VISUAL APPROACH SHALL BE APPLIED BY PILOT OR ATC,  IMPLEMENTED AFTER APPROVED BY THE OTHER SIDE.  2.2 ATC MAY ISSUE VISUAL APPROACH CLEARANCE AFTER THE PILOTS  REPORT THE RWY OR THE PRECEDING ACFT IS INSIGHT.  2.3 AFTER RECEIVING THE VISUAL APPROACH CLEARANCE, THE ALTITUDE  AND HEADING SHALL BE CONTROLLED BY PILOT,AND FLY TOWARD THE  LANDING AIRPORT OR FOLLOW THE PRECEDING ACFT FOR VISUAL APPROACH,  THE PILOT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING SAFE SEPARATION BETWEEN  THE ACFT AND GROUND OBSTACLES ,AS WELL AS OTHER AIRCRAFTS.  2.4 HONGQIAO AIRPORT WILL BROADCAST INFORMATION REGARDING THE  IMPLEMENTATION OF MULTI-RUNWAY VISUAL APPROACHES BY ATIS.  3. TERMINATION OF VISUAL APPROACH:  3.1 DURING THE VISUAL APPROACH OF AN AIRCRAFT, THE CONTROLLER WILL  ACTIVELY TERMINATE THE VISUAL APPROACH IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING  SITUATIONS:  3.1.1 THE PILOT REPORTS THAT IT IS UNABLE TO CONTINUE AND COMPLETE  THE VISUAL APPROACH DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS OR OTHER REASONS.  3.1.2 THE CONTROLLER FINDS THAT THE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE BELOW  THE METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS FOR THE VISUAL APPROACH.  3.1.3 THE CONTROLLER DISCOVERS SITUATION THAT MAY AFFECT FLIGHT  SAFETY DURING THE VISUAL APPROACH OF THE AIRCRAFT.  3.2 THERE IS NO NEED TO SET A MISSED APPROACH SEGMENT FOR A VISUAL  APPROACH. WHEN AN AIRCRAFT CANNOT COMPLETE THE VISUAL APPROACH, IT )    WILL BE CONVERTED TO AN INSTRUMENT APPROACH OR THE APPROACH WILL  BE TERMINATED. THE CONTROLLER WILL PROVIDE NECESSARY ASSISTANCE  AND ALLOCATE THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE SEPARATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH  THE REGULATIONS.  3.3 AFTER TERMINATING THE VISUAL APPROACH, THE CONTROLLER WILL  ISSUE CONTROL INSTRUCTIONS SUCH AS HEADING AND ALTITUDE TO THE  AIRCRAFT TO ESTABLISH THE CORRESPONDING SAFE SEPARATION AS SOON AS  POSSIBLE.)
