Notamify Now Fully Integrated with FAA's NOTAM Management Service (NMS)
11/20/2025
Notamify has achieved 100% integration with the FAA's NOTAM Management Service (NMS). The migration from legacy distribution systems to NMS delivers 62% performance improvement across our ingestion and processing pipeline.
The FAA's NMS migrates functionality from legacy systems (including FNS) to a single modernized platform with structured data formats and improved reliability.
Technical improvements
NMS delivers NOTAM data as discrete records rather than monolithic XML bundles. This architectural change enables:
- Real-time data stream with zero-lag access
- Parallel processing across pipeline stages
- Immediate categorization and routing
- Lower memory footprint
- Linear resource scaling with volume
Architecture shift
Legacy systems bundled hundreds of NOTAMs into single XML documents. A malformed record could delay the entire batch. NMS uses the latest Aeronautical Information Exchange Model with (Skymerse AIXM library), treating each NOTAM as a self-contained entity.
This enables faster AI-powered briefings, more responsive map visualizations, and lower latency for email updates.
Integration details
NMS integration required updates across the pipeline: ingestion layer, AIXM 5.1.1 parsing engine, 42-category taxonomy application, storage indexing, and API endpoints.
All existing features operate seamlessly: atomic elements, flight briefings, and dashboard alerts.
Performance benchmarks
- Ingestion latency: 62% reduction
- Parsing throughput: 3.2x increase
- Memory efficiency: 47% reduction in peak usage
- API response time: 28% faster queries
User impact
Pilots and dispatchers see more current flight briefings. API users get faster responses and higher throughput. Dashboard operators receive more responsive alert monitoring.

Thanks to the whole FAA NOTAM Team for great support along the way!
