Understanding Notamify's NOTAM Categories: A Comprehensive Guide
6/10/2026
Notamify uses 48 NOTAM categories to help pilots and operators quickly find relevant information. The categories give users a consistent way to filter and scan notices across airports, FIRs, and publishers.

Update: We added a new Aerodrome subcategory, "Airport Operations", to better reflect airport-wide operational impacts and improve filtering for cases where the entire airport is affected. The category replaces the former "Airport Maintenance" subcategory.
Top-level categories
Notamify groups notices into these top-level categories:
- Aerodrome — airport operations and infrastructure
- Airspace — controlled and uncontrolled airspace changes and restrictions
- Navigation — navaids, procedures, routes, and charts
- Communication — air-ground communication and surveillance
- Operations — flight procedures, restrictions, and special operations
- Obstacles — temporary and permanent obstructions
- Administrative — publication, office, and checklist notices
- Weather — meteorological services, warnings, and SNOWTAM
- Safety — security measures and safety advisories
- Other — wildlife, bird activity, and miscellaneous notices
Each top-level category has subcategories used for filtering and briefing. The product surface is the place to explore the full set live.
How categories help
The categorization system helps users quickly filter and find relevant NOTAMs for their operations. Consistent classification makes briefings more efficient and reduces the risk of missing critical information.
